<image:caption>If your plants keep dying, it may not be your fault If you feel like you are constantly replacing plants or watching them slowly decline, you are not alone. One of the most common things I hear is, “I just cannot keep plants alive.” The truth is, it is rarely about being bad with plants. Most of the time, your plants, your space, and your routine are simply not aligned. When those pieces are out of sync, even the healthiest plants will struggle.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Why Your Plants Keep Struggling (Even When You’re Trying Your Best) - Why plants decline over time in your home Most indoor plants do not fail overnight. They decline gradually. Things like low light, improper watering, and lack of maintenance build up over time. By the time visible damage appears, the plant has often been stressed for weeks. This is something I see often in homes and businesses across Fort Worth and the DFW area. Plants are added with good intentions, but without the right environment and care plan, they begin to struggle.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Your Plants Keep Struggling (Even When You’re Trying Your Best)</image:title>
<image:caption>How to actually keep your plants alive Healthy plants are not about luck. They are about intention and consistency. The biggest difference comes from: • choosing the right plants for your specific space • placing plants where they will actually thrive • creating a consistent care routine • checking in regularly instead of reacting too late When these pieces come together, plant care becomes simple and sustainable.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Why plant design matters more than you think Your space plays a major role in how your plants perform. When plants are thoughtfully placed and styled, they are easier to maintain and they elevate the entire room. This is where indoor plant design becomes important. It is not just about how plants look. It is about creating a system where they can thrive long term.</image:caption>

<image:caption>One of the things I love most about homes in Dallas-Fort Worth is the natural light. Many homes here have large windows and bright living spaces, which create the perfect environment for certain indoor plants to truly thrive. When the lighting in a home is right, plants grow stronger, fuller, and often become beautiful statement pieces that transform the entire space. If your home gets bright light throughout the day, these are a few of my favorite indoor plants that work especially well in bright Fort Worth homes.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 5 Beautiful Indoor Plants That Thrive in Bright Fort Worth Homes - 2. Bird of Paradise If you want a plant that feels bold and tropical, the Bird of Paradise is an incredible choice. This large indoor plant loves bright light and can grow quite large indoors when it's happy. The wide, architectural leaves bring a lot of life and movement to a space. It works especially well in living rooms with large windows or bright natural light, where it has space to stretch and grow.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - 5 Beautiful Indoor Plants That Thrive in Bright Fort Worth Homes - 3. Dracaena</image:title>
<image:caption>Dracaena is one of my favorite plants to use in both homes and commercial plant design because it is incredibly adaptable and easy to maintain. With its tall, sculptural form and thin, spiky leaves, Dracaena adds height and texture to a space without feeling heavy. It works especially well in corners, near seating areas, or anywhere you want to bring in greenery without overwhelming the room. One of the reasons I often recommend Dracaena to clients is that it tolerates a wide range of lighting conditions. While it grows well in bright homes, it can also adapt to moderate light, which makes it a very versatile choice for interior plant design.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Monstera Deliciosa is one of the most recognizable indoor plants and for good reason. With enough light, these plants grow large, dramatic leaves with the iconic splits that people love. They add a relaxed, organic feeling to a space and can quickly become a centerpiece in a room. They thrive in bright, indirect light and do especially well in open living areas.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 5 Beautiful Indoor Plants That Thrive in Bright Fort Worth Homes - 5. Snake Plant</image:title>
<image:caption>Snake plants are one of the most versatile indoor plants you can own. They tolerate a wide range of lighting conditions but still grow beautifully in bright homes. Their upright structure makes them perfect for smaller spaces, entryways, or areas where you want a plant that feels clean and architectural. They are also one of the most beginner-friendly houseplants available.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Luxury Interior Plant Design in Fort Worth - Plants do more than fill empty corners. They guide the eye. They create focal points. They influence how people feel in a room. For businesses, intentional plant styling can increase how long customers linger. It can elevate brand identity. It can make a restaurant feel welcoming and a hotel feel curated. For homes, plant design creates softness and grounding. A thoughtfully placed tree can anchor a living room. A collection of layered foliage can turn a blank wall into a living statement piece. Good plant design is not about adding more. It is about choosing the right plant, the right vessel, and the right placement.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Luxury Interior Plant Design in Fort Worth - Every home is different. Every client’s lifestyle is different. That is why I approach residential plant design with a tailored, consultative process. When working with homeowners in Fort Worth and surrounding DFW neighborhoods, I consider: • Natural light and window direction • Ceiling height and architectural lines • Existing furniture and color palette • Maintenance expectations • The overall feeling the client wants to create From sourcing statement trees to styling shelves with layered foliage, I design plant installations that feel cohesive with the home rather than separate from it. For clients who want ongoing support, I also offer plant maintenance services to ensure their investment continues to thrive.</image:title>

Boutique hotels need installations that photograph beautifully while remaining easy to maintain. Corporate spaces often need clean lines and strong architectural plants. I work with business owners across Fort Worth and Dallas to: • Design large scale plant installations • Source statement pieces and coordinated vessels • Create cohesive plant moments throughout a space • Install and style with intention • Offer ongoing maintenance if needed Plants can become part of a brand’s visual identity. When styled correctly, they enhance both the customer experience and the aesthetic of the business.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Plants Are the Icing on the Cake - Why Plants Are Often the Missing Piece I hear the same things from clients all the time. They love the idea of plants but do not know where to put them. They are unsure which plants fit their home and lifestyle. They worry about killing them or choosing the wrong thing. They want plants to feel intentional, not cluttered or trendy. Most people already know their style. What they need help with is finishing the space in a way that feels natural and effortless. That is exactly what interior plant design does.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plants Are the Icing on the Cake - Plants Are Not Just Decor Plants do something furniture and accessories cannot. They add movement to a room. They soften architectural lines. They bring life into neutral spaces. They connect your home to nature in a quiet, grounding way. When plants are placed with intention, they enhance what is already there instead of competing with it. They support the mood of the room and help it feel complete. That is why I approach plants as a design element, not an afterthought.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plants Are the Icing on the Cake - My Approach to Interior Plant Design</image:title>
<image:caption>Every home is different, and every client is in a different place. Some people are new to plants. Others already have a few and want help styling them. Some want a statement plant. Others want subtle greenery that blends into the space. I start by meeting you where you are. I look at your existing style, natural light, layout, and how you actually use your home. From there, I select plants that make sense for your space and your lifestyle. My goal is not to overwhelm you with plants, but to choose the right ones and place them with intention. Luxury interior plant design is not about excess. It is about ease. It is about walking into your home and feeling calm, grounded, and at home.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Plants Are the Icing on the Cake - What Changes When Plants Are Done Right</image:title>
<image:caption>When plants are designed well, clients often tell me the same thing. Their home feels warmer. The space feels finished. Guests comment on how good the house feels, not just how it looks. They feel more connected to their space. That feeling is the goal. Plants should support your life, not add stress to it.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Workshop Reflections: Why Terrarium Workshops Matter - Why I Love Hosting Terrarium Workshops Hosting workshops has become one of my favorite parts of what I do. My intention is always simple: I want people to feel welcomed, seen, and safe to create exactly where they are. I hope that when someone walks into one of my workshops, they feel like they can exhale. There is no pressure to be perfect, no expectation to already know what you are doing. Just space to slow down, try something new, and enjoy the process. Beyond leaving with a plant, I want people to walk away thinking, “That was a really fun time.” I hope they gain a deeper appreciation for begonias, plants, and the quiet grounding that comes from creating something with their hands.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Workshop Reflections: Why Terrarium Workshops Matter - Each workshop begins with choice and creativity. Participants select their vessel, choose their begonias, accent plants, and decor. Once everyone gathers around the table, I guide the group step by step through building their terrarium, layer by layer. From there, everyone designs their own little world. No two terrariums ever look the same, and that is one of my favorite parts. Toward the end of the workshop, each participant chooses a crystal and sets an intention. We close by lifting our lids together and sharing a collective cheers. These two moments have become my signature workshop rituals, and they always feel meaningful. One moment that really stood out to me during this workshop was when everyone became deeply focused. People were standing, building, fully immersed in their creations. At the same time, conversation flowed naturally between participants who had never met before. Watching strangers connect so effortlessly was incredibly special.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Workshop Reflections: Why Terrarium Workshops Matter - Why Terrariums Hold So Much Meaning</image:title>
<image:caption>I love all plants (obviously), but terrariums are something truly special. You are building a tiny world that you get to nurture and watch grow through glass. Begonias, in particular, are incredibly rewarding to grow. Seeing them start as small plants and mature over time is beautiful. Terrariums are also deeply grounding. You are literally working with earth, touching moss, and slowing down your hands and your mind. Creating something, trying something new, and watching it grow all support mental well-being. It is a very real “touch grass” moment. This is where terrariums align so naturally with my simple and mindful philosophy. I do not believe in overcomplicating things. I teach in a way that is approachable, down to earth, and respectful of where each person is. No talking over heads. No unnecessary science. Just thoughtful guidance and encouragement.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Workshop Reflections: Why Terrarium Workshops Matter</image:title>
<image:caption>Workshops have shown me such a beautiful side of people. Watching strangers come together, create alongside one another, and treat each other with kindness and positivity is something I never take for granted. In a world where so much feels heavy, these workshops become a small, happy place. A space where people feel safe to escape, create, and simply be. Creating alongside others is something I deeply love. I always learn something new by seeing how others interpret the same materials in completely different ways. The group dynamic during this workshop felt especially special. While a few participants knew each other, most did not, and yet it felt like a group of friends who had known each other for a long time. Creating safe spaces has always been part of who I am. From teaching to now hosting workshops, that intention has never changed.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Workshop Reflections: Why Terrarium Workshops Matter - Who Terrarium Workshops Are For Truly, these workshops are for everyone. Plant lovers, beginners, collectors, and people who have never touched a plant before. Young or old. It does not matter. At their core, these workshops are especially for people who need a creative break. This experience is about process, not perfection. About showing up as you are and allowing yourself to try.</image:title>

New ideas continue to come, and I am excited to explore more collector-focused terrariums, specific themes, and additional private workshop opportunities. What excites me most is the unknown. Lauren and Plants is growing, new connections are forming, and new opportunities are unfolding. I know what is coming will be good.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Professional Plant Maintenance in Fort Worth: What’s Included and Who It’s For - What Is Plant Maintenance, Really? Many people think plant maintenance simply means watering. In reality, proper plant care is ongoing and responsive. Every plant, space, and lifestyle is different, and maintenance should reflect that. Professional plant maintenance involves regularly assessing plant health, adjusting care as conditions change, and providing essential upkeep like fertilizing and leaf cleaning, not just watering. Fertilizing supports steady growth and overall plant health, while clean leaves allow plants to photosynthesize more efficiently and stay pest-resistant. By addressing small issues early, plant maintenance helps prevent bigger problems down the line. The goal is consistency, longevity, and peace of mind, so your plants continue to thrive without added stress.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Professional Plant Maintenance in Fort Worth: What’s Included and Who It’s For - My plant maintenance services in Fort Worth are tailored to your space and your plants. While every visit may look slightly different, services typically include: Customized watering schedules Watering is adjusted based on plant type, pot size, light levels, and your environment, not a one-size-fits-all approach. Light checks and plant rotation As light shifts throughout the year, plants are repositioned or rotated to support balanced growth. Leaf cleaning and care Dust-free leaves photosynthesize more efficiently, stay healthier, and allow me to closely assess each plant’s condition. Pest prevention and early detection Regular check-ins help catch pests early and prevent infestations before they spread. Pruning and overall plant health checks Removing damaged growth and monitoring stress signs keeps plants looking their best and growing properly. Ongoing guidance and education I’m always happy to share tips and answer questions so you feel more confident about your plants between visits. This approach focuses on prevention, not reaction, helping plants stay healthy and resilient over time.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Terrarium Workshops: Creative, Grounding, and Built to Last - In the short term, terrarium building is simply fun. You get to: Create something from start to finish Work with your hands and natural materials Step away from screens and daily distractions Learn something new in a relaxed environment Getting your hands in soil, moss, and plants has been shown to help reduce stress and support mental clarity. Studies around horticultural therapy and hands-on creative activities suggest that working with plants can lower cortisol levels, improve mood, and promote a sense of calm and focus. Many people leave a workshop feeling lighter, more grounded, and energized, not because it’s complicated, but because it’s tactile, creative, and present. Terrarium workshops offer a pause from the rush of everyday life and invite you to slow down, create, and enjoy the process.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Terrarium Workshops: Creative, Grounding, and Built to Last - What makes a terrarium workshop especially meaningful is that the experience doesn’t end when the workshop does. Unlike many creative classes, you leave with a living piece that continues to grow. A well-built terrarium: Evolves over time Responds to its environment Creates an ongoing connection to the experience At Lauren and Plants workshops, every participant is guided through plant selection, layering, design, and care. The goal is not just to make something beautiful in the moment, but to set you up for long-term success. When cared for properly, a terrarium can be enjoyed for years. Watching new growth emerge over time becomes a quiet reminder of the day you built it and the care you continue to give it.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plant Styling Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All, and That’s the Point - Matching Your Style, Not Replacing It Plants should enhance your space, not overpower it or feel out of place. Whether your style is minimal and modern, cozy and eclectic, or somewhere in between, my goal is to work with what you already love. I take time to understand your aesthetic, your routines, and how you want your space to feel. From there, I select plants and plan layouts that align with your vision while adding life, texture, and balance. The result is a space that feels elevated but still very much you. I offer plant styling for homes and businesses that’s tailored to your space, lifestyle, and long-term goals.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plant Styling Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All, and That’s the Point - Supporting Every Stage of the Plant Journey Not everyone starts in the same place, and that’s okay. Some clients come to me feeling confident and excited, ready to expand their collections or refine what they already have. Others feel intimidated, unsure where to begin, or worried they “have a black thumb.” I love working across this entire spectrum. For beginners, I focus on approachable, realistic plant choices and clear guidance so plants feel manageable instead of overwhelming. I also work with clients who need plant styling for events, whether it’s a gathering, open house, or short-term installation that still deserves thoughtful design. For experienced plant owners, I help with refinement, styling, sourcing, and problem-solving. For events and temporary installations, I curate plants that make an impact while still being thoughtful and intentional. There is no wrong place to start.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plant Styling Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All, and That’s the Point - Education Is Always Part of the Process</image:title>
<image:caption>I don’t just place plants in a space and walk away. Education is a huge part of what I do. I want clients to feel confident caring for their plants long after installation day. During each project, I take time to explain light needs, watering routines, placement, and general care. My goal is to help plants thrive, not just look good for a moment. For clients who love plants but don’t have the time or capacity to maintain them, I also offer ongoing plant maintenance services. This ensures your plants stay healthy, beautiful, and stress-free, while you get to enjoy them without added pressure.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Bringing Spaces to Life with Plant Styling and Staging in the DFW Area - Why Plant Styling and Staging Matters Thoughtful plant styling can completely shift the mood of a room. In this space, a single tall floor plant placed intentionally near architectural elements adds height, softness, and balance without competing with the design. It proves that staging does not need to be crowded to be impactful. In homes, plants help spaces feel warm and lived in. In businesses and commercial settings, they communicate care, professionalism, and intention. In real estate staging, greenery creates an inviting atmosphere that helps people imagine themselves in the space rather than just looking at it. The right plant in the right place elevates everything around it. Sculptural floor plants add presence and structure, while clean planters keep the look polished and modern. Even one well styled moment like this can transform how an entire room feels. For my Dallas Fort Worth clients, plant styling and staging has become a simple and mindful way to refresh a space without the cost or overwhelm of a full remodel.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Bringing Spaces to Life with Plant Styling and Staging in the DFW Area - Behind the Scenes of a Staging Project This weekend I am delivering plants for one of my largest staging jobs yet, and it has been such a good reminder of how much I love this part of my business. Sourcing the right plants and planters takes time. It is hours of driving around the metroplex, checking nurseries, and finding pieces that complement the client’s overall vision. Once everything is selected, I clean each plant, prep their planters, wrap them for transport, and carefully load them into my car or truck. There is a rhythm to it that feels both creative and grounding. When I walk the plants into the space and see how they instantly shift the atmosphere, it feels like magic every single time. These staging jobs help me show what is possible when plants are used as intentional design instead of random decor. They also give me the portfolio I need to book more of these projects in 2026.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - A Cozy and Creative Plant Experience for the Holiday Season in the DFW Area - Why Winter Terrariums Feel So Special A terrarium is a tiny world you get to design and care for. It feels magical during winter because the glass creates a soft, snow globe feel that fits the season perfectly. At this workshop we will use lush moss, beautiful substrate layers, winter inspired details, twinkle lights, and Begonias that thrive in terrarium environments. Their colors and textures glow so beautifully inside a humid microclimate. Terrariums work well because the closed environment holds moisture and creates the perfect conditions for these plants to grow. It is nature on a small scale and it makes such a calming addition to any home, especially during the holidays.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Simple and Mindful Holiday Prep with Lauren and Plants - Terrarium Workshop Prep for the Holiday Season Before every workshop I move into a calm and intentional routine. For winter I bring in twinkle lights, cool toned accents, and soft greenery to create a peaceful Winter Wonderland experience. Each workshop is designed to feel simple, mindful, and creative. <image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: How Terrariums Bring Calm Before the Holidays - Hey y’all! The holidays are creeping up, and even though it absolutely does not feel like holiday weather here in DFW, the season is still coming fast. This time of year brings excitement, joy, reflection, and sometimes a lot of overwhelm. I know for me, life can get so busy that I have to intentionally slow myself down. Building terrariums has always been one of my favorite ways to pause, breathe, and get grounded. Someone once called it “creative rest,” and that has stayed with me. You get to create something with your hands in a calm, mindful way, and the beauty of it continues long after the experience itself. It is one of the reasons I love hosting terrarium workshops here in Dallas–Fort Worth.</image:title>
<image:caption>Begonia ‘Dolce Vita’ inside a glass terrarium. This variety is a favorite for terrarium building because its unique leaf pattern and love of humidity make it both striking and well-suited to enclosed environments.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: How Terrariums Bring Calm Before the Holidays - Why Terrariums Feel Grounding There is something incredibly soothing about building a terrarium from the very first layer. Watching the biochar, perlite, and moss settle into place, choosing each plant and piece of décor, and arranging everything intentionally inside the glass feels almost meditative. Terrarium building is a simple and mindful practice that so many people in DFW are beginning to explore, especially through hands-on terrarium workshops and classes. You get to create something beautiful, and then you get to watch it grow and evolve over time. It becomes a reminder that slowing down and caring for something brings its own kind of peace.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: How Terrariums Bring Calm Before the Holidays - The Beauty of Begonias My first begonia terrarium truly changed my life. I built it at a terrarium workshop taught by the one and only Begonia Legend, Don Miller. I chose a tiny Begonia Dolce Vita, and at the time, I was going through one of the hardest seasons of my life. With each new leaf, that little begonia grew stronger and more beautiful, and so did I. It became a reflection of my own healing. Each leaf represented progress. Each moment of growth mirrored what I was experiencing within myself. There are tens of thousands of begonia varieties, each one unique in its shape, color, and pattern. They are some of the most loved plants to use in begonia terrarium workshops throughout Dallas and Fort Worth. No matter your style or personality, there is always a begonia that feels like it was made for you.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: How Terrariums Bring Calm Before the Holidays - The Joy of Community Workshops It is always a beautiful thing when strangers come together around plants. You never know exactly what the energy will be like until everyone arrives, but every single time, something special unfolds. People help each other, encourage each other, and laugh together. There is an ease and warmth that fills the room, almost like everyone already knows each other. Plants have a way of bringing people together, and it is one of my favorite parts of being a workshop facilitator. This is one of the reasons I love hosting terrarium workshops in the DFW area. It is community, creativity, and connection all in one place.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: How Terrariums Bring Calm Before the Holidays - Grounded in Gratitude: This Saturday</image:title>
<image:caption>Grounded in Gratitude came to me because I truly am grateful to be on this journey. I have walked through some incredibly hard things, and I am thankful every day for where I am now. In The Secret, it talks about how having an attitude of gratitude opens the door for more to be grateful for and I have found that to be true in my life. I am grateful for plants, for terrariums, and for every person and experience this little business has brought my way. I would love to share this with you. There are five tickets left for this weekend’s DFW terrarium workshop.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: Caring for Ourselves and Our Plants Through the Season Change - Happy November! As the days grow shorter and the air cools, both people and plants start to feel the shift. Nature slows down this time of year, and whether we realize it or not, we’re meant to slow down too. For many, the transition between seasons can bring big feelings. The holidays can stir up memories, and darker days sometimes come with heavier moods. I know I feel it too. After experiencing loss in my own life, this time of year often reminds me to give myself grace and slow down with intention. I have to remind myself of the same things I tell others: to rest, care gently, and practice gratitude so I can stay grounded. Lately, I’ve been focusing on doing small things that bring me joy. I added twinkle lights and a few strands of soft Christmas lights around my plant shelves the other day, not because of the holidays, but simply because it made me smile. The warm glow makes my space feel cozy and alive, and it’s a simple way to bring light into darker days. Just as our plants pause their growth to rest and prepare for what’s next, we’re invited to do the same.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: Caring for Ourselves and Our Plants Through the Season Change - What the Season Teaches Us When we pay attention to our plants, they remind us that rest is still growth. Their leaves may stop unfurling as quickly, and roots may slow beneath the soil, but that doesn’t mean they’ve stopped thriving. They’re conserving energy, adjusting to new light, and preparing for brighter days ahead. We can learn a lot from that. Instead of pushing through, we can honor the slower rhythm by creating small rituals of care, watering intentionally, pruning what no longer serves us, and making room for new light both literally and figuratively.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: Caring for Ourselves and Our Plants Through the Season Change - Nurturing Our Plants and Ourselves If your plants seem a little off right now, that’s okay. Growth naturally slows in the cooler months. You might notice: You’re watering less often Leaves take longer to open A few might yellow or drop as they adjust Try adding a grow light to mimic sunshine, or grouping your plants closer together to help them share humidity. These small adjustments help them feel safe, the same way gentle routines can help us feel grounded. Think of your plant care as a form of self-care. Wiping dust from leaves, misting moss, or simply noticing new growth can be a gentle reminder that you’re still growing too, even when life feels slower or heavier.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Grounded in Gratitude: Caring for Ourselves and Our Plants Through the Season Change - Growing Connection If you’ve been feeling cooped up, lonely, or disconnected, getting out of the house can be a powerful reset. Spending time with others, especially in creative spaces, can lift your energy and bring a sense of calm. That’s one reason I love hosting terrarium workshops and doing pop-up events around DFW. They’re not just about plants; they’re about people. Every workshop is a space to create, connect, and breathe for a few hours. You’ll leave with a living piece of art and, hopefully, a lighter heart. If you’re local, I’d love to see you at one of my upcoming events this month. <image:title>Blog - Halloween Terrarium Workshop: A Season of Gratitude and Growth - Happy Halloweenie! The Halloween Terrarium Workshop couldn’t have been more special. You never quite know how the energy will feel when a group of new faces comes together, but this one felt effortless, like it was meant to be. Terrariums have a way of connecting people while also giving each person the freedom to create something that’s entirely their own. Everyone chose different vessels and unique Begonias that spoke to them, and watching those choices come to life was pure joy. Each terrarium reflected a little piece of its creator, and that made the afternoon even more meaningful.</image:title>

The room was filled with the kind of energy that makes you stop and appreciate the moment. I left feeling deeply grateful for the people who showed up to create, to connect, and to simply enjoy being present. Being able to share my love of terrariums and watch others discover their own connection to the process always fills me with joy. It reminded me that when we take time to slow down and create intentionally, we make space for both reflection and growth.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Mindful Magic of Terrariums: How Building a Mini World Can Boost Your Mental Health - Hi! I’m so glad you’re here! Plants have been a huge part of my healing journey. They’ve grounded me, taught me patience, and given me something meaningful to care for through every season of life. Over time, I found a deeper kind of peace in creating terrariums. There’s something about building a little world of your own—one that thrives through care, attention, and time—that feels healing on so many levels. For me, terrariums aren’t just beautiful pieces of living art. They’re a form of therapy, a way to slow down and connect with nature, and a reminder that even in the smallest spaces, life finds a way to grow.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Mindful Magic of Terrariums: How Building a Mini World Can Boost Your Mental Health - In a world that moves so fast, creating a terrarium invites you to slow down. Each step, from layering substrate to choosing the perfect plant, requires patience and presence. It’s a mindful practice that pulls you into the moment, quieting the noise and giving your mind a peaceful break. Just like meditation, the repetitive and tactile process of working with your hands helps reduce stress levels and encourages a sense of calm. Studies have shown that simply touching and working with plants can lower cortisol and blood pressure levels.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Mindful Magic of Terrariums: How Building a Mini World Can Boost Your Mental Health - Connection and Care Building a terrarium is more than just a craft; it’s a form of connection. You’re creating a living ecosystem that depends on your care and attention. In nurturing your plants, you practice empathy and patience—two qualities that naturally extend into other areas of life. And unlike digital distractions, this kind of connection is grounding. The act of misting, pruning, or checking on your tiny world becomes a simple but powerful ritual of self-care.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Mindful Magic of Terrariums: How Building a Mini World Can Boost Your Mental Health - Creativity and Control Designing a terrarium gives you creative freedom—from choosing the vessel to arranging the moss, stones, and plants. You’re creating art that grows. For many people, this hands-on creativity provides a sense of accomplishment and control, which can be incredibly healing during stressful or uncertain times. It’s no wonder that horticultural therapy and biophilic design are becoming more common in workplaces and wellness settings. We all benefit from bringing a bit of green into our world.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Yes, Plant Help Is a Thing and I’m So Glad You Asked! - Hey y’all! Welcome back! Not long ago, someone reached out after seeing my work and said something along the lines of, “I didn’t even know residential plant help was a thing!” That’s actually something I hear a lot and I love it. Because yes, it is a thing. Many plant lovers want their spaces to look vibrant and healthy but feel unsure where to start when things get overgrown, droopy, or just not as full as they used to be. That’s where I come in, offering in-home plant help that takes the stress out of care and brings the joy back to your space.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Yes, Plant Help Is a Thing and I’m So Glad You Asked! - Caring for houseplants can be joyful, but it can also feel overwhelming when life gets busy or when things start to slip. Maybe your plants have outgrown their pots, leaves are yellowing, or the soil just doesn’t seem right anymore. Or maybe it’s something deeper: you love your plants, but you’re simply stretched thin. Sometimes we hit a season where we just don’t have the time, energy, or mental space to keep up with everything. Between work, kids, stress, and life happening all at once, it’s easy for your plants to take the back seat. And that’s okay. That’s exactly why plant help exists, to take the pressure off and bring the joy back into caring for your space. Whether you’re going through a busy season, recovering from burnout, or just need someone to reset your collection, I meet you where you are and help your plants (and your home) feel alive again. Because when your environment feels lighter and your plants look healthy, you do too.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Yes, Plant Help Is a Thing and I’m So Glad You Asked! - Healthy plants change the whole energy of a room. When they’re thriving, your space feels lighter, calmer, and more alive. When they’re struggling, it’s easy to feel frustrated or unsure what to do next and that stress can quietly add up. My goal is to take that weight off your shoulders so you can simply enjoy your space again. A professional refresh can: Prevent costly plant loss Revive tired or struggling plants Create a cohesive, thriving look Bring calm and natural beauty back into your home Support your mental well-being by giving you one less thing to worry about There’s something deeply grounding about walking into a room full of healthy plants, it sets the tone for your day, helps you breathe easier, and reminds you to slow down.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Terrarium Workshop Dallas–Fort Worth: A Night of Creativity and Connection - The Heart Behind the Workshop These terrarium nights don’t just happen overnight. They come together through months of collecting and propagating begonias, hours of research and practice, and a whole lot of intention poured into every small detail — from soil layering to decorative touches. There’s something deeply grounding about preparing these events. Before this workshop began, I felt an overwhelming sense of calm — the kind that tells you you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Terrarium Workshop Dallas–Fort Worth: A Night of Creativity and Connection - Moments I’ll Never Forget Some of my favorite memories from the evening still make me smile: Someone said, “I feel like I’m playing in the dirt like when I was a kid.” That’s exactly the energy I hope people feel — playful, connected, and present. And when I gave everyone a crystal to set an intention, Eddie dropped his and said, “Ah! My intention!” It was one of those perfectly light, human moments that made the room erupt in laughter. Those are the kinds of moments that make these workshops so special — the ones that blend creativity, connection, and a little humor along the way.</image:title>

My biggest hope is that everyone who attended feels a sense of pride and peace when they see their terrarium thriving on a shelf or table at home. It’s more than a plant project — it’s a living reminder to slow down, nurture something, and celebrate growth.</image:title>

If you’ve been curious about joining, come to the next one. You don’t need any plant experience — just a love for nature, creativity, and good company.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Bringing Nature In: The Science of Biophilic Design - Welcome back! As someone who works with homes, businesses, and community spaces across Fort Worth and the DFW area, I’ve seen firsthand how much plants can change the feel of a space. Have you ever walked into a room filled with greenery and instantly felt calmer? That’s not your imagination—it’s science. The way we design our environments impacts our mood, productivity, and overall well-being. This is where biophilic design comes in: a design approach that intentionally connects people with nature indoors.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Bringing Nature In: The Science of Biophilic Design - What is Biophilic Design? The term “biophilia” comes from the idea that humans have an innate connection to nature. Biophilic design takes this concept and translates it into our built environments, weaving in natural elements like plants, light, water, and organic textures.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Secret to Thriving Begonia Terrariums: Why Every Layer Matters - Hiii! Let’s talk terrariums! There are hundreds of ways to build a terrarium—just ask ten plant lovers and you’ll probably hear ten different methods. Over time, I’ve experimented and learned through the amazing DFW Begonia Society, and I’ve found a process that has been truly fail-proof for me. It’s the method I use to create stunning, long-lasting terrariums again and again. (Remember, I’m referencing Begonia terrariums, not those succulent “terrariums” that’ll die in a month.) Each layer I add plays an important role in keeping the ecosystem balanced. From biochar to chunky perlite to sanitized sphagnum moss, these components all work together to create the high-humidity environment where terrariums really thrive.</image:title>
<image:caption>Begonia ‘Dolce Vita’ inside a glass terrarium. This variety is a favorite for terrarium building because its unique leaf pattern and love of humidity make it both striking and well-suited to enclosed environments.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Secret to Thriving Begonia Terrariums: Why Every Layer Matters - Biochar: The Invisible Protector Biochar is one of the most underrated layers in a terrarium. This highly porous charcoal works like a natural filter, absorbing toxins, balancing the ecosystem, and keeping the terrarium fresh. It prevents odors, mold, and harmful bacteria from building up over time—basically acting like a mini-cleaning crew that you never have to think about.</image:title>
</image:image>

<image:title>Blog - The Secret to Thriving Begonia Terrariums: Why Every Layer Matters - Chunky Perlite: The Foundation of Drainage Terrariums don’t have drainage holes like regular pots, so perlite becomes the hero at the bottom. The chunky texture allows excess water to flow through, preventing root rot and creating tiny pockets of airflow. That extra breathability keeps the roots healthy, even in a closed environment.</image:title>
</image:image>

<image:title>Blog - The Secret to Thriving Begonia Terrariums: Why Every Layer Matters - Sanitized Sphagnum Moss: The Moisture Manager Think of sphagnum moss as the sponge of the terrarium. It soaks up extra water, holds it, and slowly releases it back to the plants when they need it. Because it’s sanitized, it’s free from pests and unwanted organisms, keeping your terrarium safe and healthy. This layer also acts as a divider, keeping the soil from sinking into the drainage layer.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Secret to Thriving Begonia Terrariums: Why Every Layer Matters - High Humidity: The Key to Thriving Terrariums</image:title>
<image:caption>All of these layers work together to create a humid, stable environment—the kind many tropical plants love. That high humidity reduces stress, encourages new growth, and allows delicate plants (like begonias!) to flourish in ways they wouldn’t in open air. It’s what makes terrariums not only beautiful, but long-lasting.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Black Thumb? Think Again: 5 Easy Houseplants Anyone Can Keep Alive in DFW - Hey y’all, let’s talk! I hear it all the time: “I kill every plant I touch.” But here’s the thing—you’re not a plant killer. You just haven’t found the right plants yet, and I promise they’re out there waiting for you. Caring for houseplants isn’t about being perfect, it’s about finding varieties that match your lifestyle. And luckily, there are plants that practically do the hard work for you. Whether you live in an apartment in Dallas or a cozy home in Fort Worth, these beginner-friendly beauties are ready to help you build confidence and grow your green side.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Black Thumb? Think Again: 5 Easy Houseplants Anyone Can Keep Alive in DFW - Why You’re Not a Black Thumb Let’s clear something up: plants don’t need perfection, they need consistency. Think of them like new friends—you get to know what they like, and the relationship grows from there. Once you find the right starter plants, you’ll see just how easy (and rewarding) plant care can be.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Black Thumb? Think Again: 5 Easy Houseplants Anyone Can Keep Alive in DFW - 1. Snake Plant (Sansevieria)</image:title>
<image:caption>The ultimate “I forgot to water you for a month but you’re still alive” plant. Snake plants tolerate low light, inconsistent watering, and basically thrive on being ignored. They’re a perfect confidence-booster for beginners. Quick tip: Let the soil dry out completely before watering.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Black Thumb? Think Again: 5 Easy Houseplants Anyone Can Keep Alive in DFW - 2. Pothos</image:title>
<image:caption>Pothos is the life of the party—fast-growing, easy-going, and forgiving. Forget to water? It’ll droop to remind you, then perk right back up after a drink. Place it high and let the vines trail for instant style. Quick tip: Bright, indirect light = faster growth, but it’ll survive just fine in lower light.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Black Thumb? Think Again: 5 Easy Houseplants Anyone Can Keep Alive in DFW - 3. Syngonium</image:title>
<image:caption>With arrow-shaped leaves that come in shades of green, pink, or even cream, syngoniums are adaptable and forgiving. They start out upright but can also trail as they grow, giving you lots of styling options. <image:title>Blog - Why Terrariums Grow More Than Plants — They Grow Community - Hey y’all, welcome back! If there’s one thing I’ve learned on my plant journey, it’s that plants have the power to transform not just our spaces, but also our sense of connection. Terrariums in particular are like little ecosystems of joy — living art pieces that keep growing more beautiful with time. And here in Dallas and Fort Worth, we’re lucky to have a community that loves coming together to learn, create, and celebrate plants.</image:title>
<image:caption>Begonia ‘Dolce Vita’ inside a glass terrarium. This variety is a favorite for terrarium building because its unique leaf pattern and love of humidity make it both striking and well-suited to enclosed environments.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Why Terrariums Grow More Than Plants — They Grow Community - The Magic of Terrariums Terrariums are more than just décor. They’re self-sustaining mini-worlds that thrive with minimal care, making them perfect for busy lives across Dallas and Fort Worth. When you add begonias to the mix, you get something truly special — their colors and textures light up the glass, and they flourish in the humid environment of a closed terrarium. It’s like having a thriving piece of nature right at home.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Terrariums Grow More Than Plants — They Grow Community - Plants Bring People Together What excites me most about hosting workshops isn’t just the planting (though that’s always fun!) — it’s the community that forms around the table. In Dallas and Fort Worth, I’ve seen strangers bond over moss, swap plant tips, and leave not only with a terrarium, but with new friendships. These workshops are a chance to slow down, get creative, and be reminded that we grow better together.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Begonia Terrariums Are the Perfect Low-Maintenance Plant Choice for Beginners - Hey y’all, let’s talk about Begonia Terrariums! When people tell me, “I can’t keep plants alive” or “I have a black thumb,” I always point them toward Begonia terrariums. These little glass ecosystems are not only beautiful but also incredibly forgiving — making them the perfect introduction to plant care. And here in Dallas–Fort Worth, where life is busy and schedules are full, terrariums offer a way to enjoy greenery without the stress of constant upkeep.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Begonia Terrariums Are the Perfect Low-Maintenance Plant Choice for Beginners - Begonia Terrariums Practically Care for Themselves One of the best parts about Begonia terrariums is how self-sustaining they are. Once they’re built with the right layers — biochar, perlite, moss, and healthy Begonias — they recycle their own water through condensation. That means less watering, less guessing, and more time to simply enjoy. For beginners, that’s a game-changer. Instead of worrying about overwatering or underwatering, Begonia terrariums allow you to sit back and watch a whole world thrive behind glass.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Begonia Terrariums Are the Perfect Low-Maintenance Plant Choice for Beginners - A Living Work of Art That Can Last a Lifetime Begonias are some of the most striking plants you can place inside a terrarium. With their wide variety of colors, patterns, and leaf shapes, they instantly bring artistry into a glass vessel. And with proper care, a Begonia terrarium can last a lifetime — yes, really. The closed environment provides Begonias with the humidity and consistency they love, which is why I use them so often in my workshops and custom builds. It’s not just a plant; it’s a living work of art that grows with you.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Begonia Terrariums Are the Perfect Low-Maintenance Plant Choice for Beginners - Perfect for Workshops and Private Parties in DFW Begonia terrariums aren’t just fun to care for — they’re fun to create. That’s why I host terrarium building workshops across Dallas–Fort Worth. These hands-on events are: Beginner-friendly — I guide you step by step. Creative — you get to style your own vessel with Begonias and accents. Memorable — everyone leaves with something they made themselves. They’re perfect for birthdays, bridal showers, team-building, or just a unique night out with friends. I also offer private Begonia terrarium parties, so you can host your own event in your home, office, or favorite local space.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Begonia Terrariums Are the Perfect Low-Maintenance Plant Choice for Beginners - Why They’re a Fit for Fort Worth & Dallas Life In DFW, so many people love the idea of plants but worry they don’t have time for the upkeep — or they’re concerned about curious pets getting into them. Begonia terrariums solve both problems beautifully. The closed glass vessel keeps plants protected, making them a great option for cat parents and pet-friendly homes, while also being low-maintenance, long-lasting, and endlessly customizable. It’s a plant project that works perfectly for busy lives and creative spirits alike. And because they double as décor, Begonia terrariums bring a little extra magic into homes, offices, or shops — a reminder of growth that doesn’t demand too much in return.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plant Maintenance 101: Simple Care Routines for Thriving Houseplants in Fort Worth & Dallas - Watering Wisely Water is the #1 stress point for most plant parents — too much or too little can cause problems. In Fort Worth, where air can get dry (especially in winter), plants often need consistent moisture. Here’s my method: I let tap water sit overnight to allow chlorine to dissipate. While it sits, I drop in half a mosquito dunk (to prevent fungus gnats) and add a dash of Superthrive for nutrients. I water deeply but let excess drain out — no soggy roots here!</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plant Maintenance 101: Simple Care Routines for Thriving Houseplants in Fort Worth & Dallas - Fertilizing for Growth Think of fertilizer as plant food — it gives your plants the energy they need to grow. I fertilize weekly. There are so many amazing fertilizers out there, but I typically reach for Superthrive because it’s reliable and gentle. Consistent, light feeding makes a huge difference in leaf color, new growth, and overall plant health. If you’d like to try the exact one I use, here’s the link: Shop Superthrive on Amazon.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plant Maintenance 101: Simple Care Routines for Thriving Houseplants in Fort Worth & Dallas - Pest Prevention & Leaf Care Dusty leaves can block light, and pests are more likely to show up on stressed plants. Regular care keeps your plants healthier and looking their best. I spray the front and back of leaves with neem oil to keep pests away. I also love using We the Wild “Protect with Neem Oil” — it smells amazing and works really well. This isn’t an ad, but if you want to try it, you can use my link for a free gift at checkout: Get We the Wild Protect with Neem Oil. After I spray, I wipe the leaves down with microfiber gloves to make them extra shiny.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Plant Maintenance 101: Simple Care Routines for Thriving Houseplants in Fort Worth & Dallas - Styling & Placement The right spot makes all the difference. Always consider light first. Bright indirect light is a win for most houseplants. Don’t be afraid to move plants — even a few feet closer to a window can revive a struggling plant. I love styling with thrifted or vintage vessels that bring personality to a space.</image:title>

Not just in our own lives, but also in the little ecosystems we can create together in terrariums. There’s something magical about watching growth happen in real time. Whether it’s a leaf slowly unfurling or a root stretching through substrate, terrariums remind us that beauty often begins quietly and unfolds at its own pace.</image:title>
<image:caption>Begonia ‘Dolce Vita’ inside a glass terrarium. This variety is a favorite for terrarium building because its unique leaf pattern and love of humidity make it both striking and well-suited to enclosed environments.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Beauty of Growth: Begonia Terrarium Making in DFW - The Beauty of Terrariums Terrariums are miniature ecosystems—tiny worlds that bring the lushness of nature into your home. They don’t just look beautiful; they also invite mindfulness. Each layer of biochar, perlite, moss, and plant is placed with intention, and over time you get to watch the story of growth play out. For me, terrariums represent the idea that growth doesn’t have to be fast or loud to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s as simple as noticing a new leaf growing, or seeing condensation collect on the glass.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Beauty of Growth: Begonia Terrarium Making in DFW - Why Begonias? If you’ve been around me for any length of time, you know I have a soft spot for begonias. Their colors, textures, and leaf shapes make them stand out in any terrarium. Many begonias thrive in the humidity a terrarium provides, which makes them an ideal fit for these glass gardens. I love highlighting begonias in workshops because they’re both beautiful and resilient. They remind me that even when conditions aren’t perfect, growth is still possible.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Lauren and Plants: From the Heart - Let me start off by saying—thank you.</image:title>
<image:caption>Thank you for even clicking the link, for taking five seconds to read this. My hope is that at least one person feels a little less alone in their grief, or realizes that it’s okay to feel exactly how you do. So, I’m Lauren. I own Lauren and Plants. I f*cking love plants. I absolutely adore the plant community, and I chose to make my passion a business. But I’m still me. I’ve been through a lot—like, a whole lot. Here’s the CliffsNotes version before we dive in a little deeper into what I’m currently working through: In 2019, I lost my dad suddenly. He was the best dad ever. In 2020, I found out my partner of 11 years had been cheating the entire time. (She’s apologized and I chose to forgive her, but damn—it was traumatic.) I lost my aunt suddenly last year. We were incredibly close and shared a deep love for plants. And the most recent one: I lost my soulmate to addiction. He died of an overdose in December.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Lauren and Plants: From the Heart</image:title>
<image:caption>After working through the divorce and grieving my dad, I fell madly in love with a man named Tanner. And when I say he was my soulmate, I don’t mean in a fairytale way—our love had really high highs and really low lows. But we saw each other. He understood me like no one else had. Before Tanner, I’d never experienced addiction up close. I love a glass of wine, but drugs were something I’d never touched—and I didn’t know how deeply addiction could affect someone or their loved ones. This isn’t going to be a total Sad Sally story. (Well, kind of… but I’ll try to bring some light too.) Just stick with me a little longer. So yeah, it was beautiful. But addiction won. He lost his battle and I lost my soulmate. Before he passed, I had to end things to protect myself. He was really sick, and I was lucky to have the support of Al-Anon to help me. Unfortunately, he died 8–9 months later. In one of his last writings, he called our love “otherworldly.” I believe that. (If you’re loving someone who struggles with addiction, please know you’re not alone. Al-Anon was a lifeline for me, and it might be one for you too.)</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Lauren and Plants: From the Heart</image:title>
<image:caption>After we broke up, I had to do serious healing. Enter: plants. I’d always dreamed of being a plant lady. But after Tanner, I became one—hardcore. I started collecting plants, learning everything I could, transforming my space. It became a sacred process. Eventually, I turned my Instagram into a place to share my journey: @laurenandplants. (Yes, the business name came from my IG handle. The glow-up is real.) Since then, I’ve learned so much—not just about plants, but about people. The kindness I’ve found in the plant community has been overwhelming in the best way. I’ve been open about my highs and lows, and people have continued to show up for me. I’ve connected with plant lovers all over the world. I’ve made real friends. And I realized this passion could be more than a hobby—it could be a business rooted in healing. Plants saved me. Truly. I can’t imagine my life without the beauty they bring—or without this community.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I’ve had to grow a lot. I’m still growing. It’s been hard—hell, I was crying 30 minutes ago—but I finally decided it might be okay to share this part of my life. Maybe it’s okay if people know my story. Maybe someone out there will read this and feel even a little bit less alone. And if that’s you—hi. I see you. I’m rooting for us. Thanks for being here. I truly mean it. If you’ve made it this far, just know I appreciate you more than you know. Love y'all, Lauren</image:caption>

<image:caption>A Little About Me and My Plant Journey I live in Fort Worth, TX, where my home is filled with 200 plants (yes, you read that right!) and two tiny, sweet dogs. I’ve always been drawn to nature, and my love for plants grew from a deep desire to connect with the earth in a meaningful way. It wasn’t always smooth sailing in the plant world, but it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey that has brought me joy, peace, and even a new business venture. What started as a hobby—nurturing a few plants in my living room—quickly turned into a full-fledged obsession. And let’s be real, it’s not just about the plants for me. It’s the plant care, the design, the plant styling, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with watching your plants grow and thrive. In fact, my love for plants goes beyond aesthetics. In the depths of my grief, plants gave me a reason to get up each day. They became my healing companions, offering a quiet sense of peace and helping me find joy when I needed it most. They taught me patience, resilience, and the beauty of nurturing life.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Welcome to Lauren & Plants: Let’s Grow Together! - Why Plants Matter</image:title>
<image:caption>I often hear people say, “I can’t keep plants alive!” But the truth is, anyone can be a plant parent. It’s all about finding the right plants for your space and learning how to care for them properly. And let me tell you—once you get the hang of it, having plants around is nothing short of magical. Plants aren’t just great for home décor; they provide so many benefits that go beyond their aesthetic value. Studies have shown that indoor plants can improve air quality, reduce stress, and boost productivity. In fact, spending time with plants has been proven to enhance our mood and promote feelings of relaxation. If you’ve never considered it before, now’s the time to think about how plants can help you create a calming and revitalizing environment in your home or office. Whether it’s a leafy Fiddle Leaf Fig or a low-maintenance Snake Plant, there’s a perfect plant out there waiting for you!</image:caption>
