The Beauty of Growth: Begonia Terrarium Making in DFW

Hi friends,

thanks for stopping back by!

Today I want to share something close to my heart: the beauty of growth. Not just in our own lives, but also in the little ecosystems we can create together in terrariums.

There’s something magical about watching growth happen in real time. Whether it’s a leaf slowly unfurling or a root stretching through substrate, terrariums remind us that beauty often begins quietly and unfolds at its own pace.

The Beauty of Terrariums

Terrariums are miniature ecosystems—tiny worlds that bring the lushness of nature into your home. They don’t just look beautiful; they also invite mindfulness. Each layer of biochar, perlite, moss, and plant is placed with intention, and over time you get to watch the story of growth play out.

For me, terrariums represent the idea that growth doesn’t have to be fast or loud to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s as simple as noticing a new leaf growing, or seeing condensation collect on the glass.

Why Begonias?

If you’ve been around me for any length of time, you know I have a soft spot for begonias. Their colors, textures, and leaf shapes make them stand out in any terrarium. Many begonias thrive in the humidity a terrarium provides, which makes them an ideal fit for these glass gardens.

I love highlighting begonias in workshops because they’re both beautiful and resilient. They remind me that even when conditions aren’t perfect, growth is still possible.

The Dallas–Fort Worth Connection

The plant community here in Dallas and Fort Worth inspires me every day. Each event, workshop, or market reminds me how much joy plants bring when they’re shared. Terrarium making isn’t only about creating something to take home—it’s also about creating an experience, building connections, and leaving with a living reminder of the time we spent together.
